About Sovata
- Sovata formed between 1578 - 1582, the first mention dating from September 13, 1578, and in 1597 is registered as a resort. Sovata resort is located in the Eastern Carpathians in Gurghiu Mountains at an altitude of 436 – 610 m. It is limited in the east by Căpâlna Mountains (715 m), in the south by Siclod Stone (1028 m), in the west by Becheci Mountains (1078 m), and in the north, north - east by Căpeţi and Cireşul Peak (956 m).
- From geological point of view, there are two types of rocks: andesite (rock formed from volcanic lava reached the surface, gray or black, a material good for building, easy to be processed) and halite or salt formed 20-22 million years ago, during the Miocene period of the new tertiary, while the Mediterranean Sea was covering the whole valley of Transylvania and split into several small depressions, by the evaporation of the water, the existing salt crystallized and deposited. Once the sea completely dried up, sediment having been deposited over salt layers, these ascended in diapirs edges migrating on edges along the fault lines.
- The landscape is composed of a small pond, surrounded by spectacular forms, mountains and hills with a special charm: Peak Saca, Gurghiu Mountains with a diameter of 5-6m, subject to erosion.
- The climate is temperate continental. You can feel the beneficial therapeutic effect of forests, clean, resinous, slightly salty air. The average annual temperature is +8.2 ° C. The warmest month is August and the coldest is January. Because of the mountains and forests surrounding the depression there are few days with wind.
- The region has numerous rivers, some of which are critical to maintaining heliothermic effect of Bear Lake: Pârâul Auriu, Criş, Topliţa. There are also salt springs (those that spring from the Gurghiu Mountains and the lakes from sinkhole).
- The fame of the resort is due to lakes Ursu, Aluniş, Verde, Negru, Roşu, Mierlei şi Şerpilor with water containing sodium and chloride, which presents heliothermic phenomenon.
- In Sovata there are six salt lakes, two lakes having freshwater and a saline lake turned into swamp (Lacul Şerpilor). Salt lakes of Sovata are of karst type formed by salty sinkholes in small or large depressions, but their formation is connected to the salt mining in the past. There is remarkable Bear Lake, Black Lake, Lake Aluniş, Blackbird Lake, Green Lake and Red Lake as brackish water lakes and Lake Sweet and Lake Paraskeva as freshwater lakes.
- Of all, the worthiest is Bear Lake, Sovata resort treasure, unique in Europe. In the past the lake territory was occupied by hay and was named Christopher pit, and the territory was crossed by the brook Criş - Topliţa.
- The oldest lake of the resort is Lacul Negru, of anthropogenic origin, formed in 1710 by a crumbling mines having a maximum depth of 6.2 m. It is famous for the therapeutic mud extracted and used in different treatments, but the mud reserves were depleted in time.
- Aluniş Lake is a doline at 60 m far of Bear Lake, formed by the water pouring from Bear Lake. It has a maximum depth of 7.4 m.
- The youngest lake of the resort is Lacul Mierlei and dates from the early 1950s, with a maximum depth of up to 1 meter. Sludge is used in treatment of back and limbs.
- Green Lake received its name because of the color of green trees, which are reflected in it. Near Green Lake is the Massif of Salt.
- Red Lake received its name because of the appearance created by salt worms that live here, of the great salt concentration and of the colorful fallen leaves into water.
- Lake Paraskevi is a freshwater lake, formed by precipitation. Sediments are very thick and did not pierce the layer of salt. Another important objective of the area is the impressive massif of salt, a diapir wrinkle from Praid mine which extends up to 1600m long and 500m width, ending to Sokoze on Salt Mount. The highest points of the Salt Mountain are Vf Zoltan of 555m and Vf Sarea of 533m.
- There are many resort facilities: facilities for warm baths in the tub or basin with mineral water or salt water from lakes, equipments for gynecological treatments, hot mud packing, pools for kinetoteraopie, saunas and medical gymnastics.
- Because of the pure air, rich in aerosols, of very picturesque surroundings, of existing agreement means , the resort is recommended also for rest and recreation.
Bear lake
- The most important curative factors are certainly the helioterme lakes of the resort. The most representative is Bear Lake (46,000 mc), with the presence of the heliothermic phenomenon, which means thermal stratificThe other lakes are dThe other lakes are dation of the water and the growth of the salt concentration to depth. Surface water temperature is low, close to atmospheric temperature, then increase to about 3 m depth, after which the values are lower and constant. Thus, the favorable body depth (1.5 to 2 m) in the summer, the water temperature ranges from 30-40 degrees Celsius.
- The other lakes are distinguished by different curative factors such as healing mud of Black Lake and Lake Aluniş (9000 mc), clay-siliceous mud. Other lakes, Green (5000 m) and Red, underlying the Salt Mountain are also valuable by their salt water and sludge.
- With an alpine climate with cool summers and mild winters, Sovata has a calming action on the nervous system. The resort is recommended for the treatment of gynecological degenerative diseases and inflammatory rheumatic diseases, peripheral nervous system diseases, endocrine disorders and cardiovascular diseases. In short, Sovata is recommended to treat gynecological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, digestive and endocrine, and to treat post-trauma state.
